First of all I frankly regret the death of Michael Jackson. I grew with his music. We lost icon, legend…however you will call it won’t be enough. It’s a pity that recent years were mainly covering some non-musical aspects of his life, but late 70’s, whole 80’s and 90’s belonged indisputable to king of pop regarding music progress, milestones, sales record, hits etc.. You can say: “but what had Jackson to do with energy management?”. I can answer quite a lot. Maybe not in a literal meaning, but he was always close to society/human problems and was active in different campaigns. I think everybody knows <a title="We are the World" href="http://werona.wrzuta.pl/audio/1dnkhEt1eIS/ "target="_blank">“We are the World” song from 1985 within “USA for Africa” – initiative aiming at getting money for fight against hunger in Africa .The single brought 90 mln $ of profit. There were only 800 000 singles and they were sold within 1 week. It was written by Michael Jackson together with Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones (he was responsible for the music concerning Michael’s 80’s albums). However more climate/energy related song was written by Michael Jackson ten years later. Please read more to see the video clip to it.

“Did you ever stop to notice
This crying Earth this weeping shore?”

“Earth Song” – this is the song I was thinking off. As you see it has been 14 years the song was published and the text, pictures are still timely…or even worse the situation is more difficult than then. Rainforests are still cut out, emissions are rising, animals are dying and people are fighting amongst each other all the time.

The desolated field where Michael Jackson is singing could become a picture of World in near future and it won’t be the cause of Terminator vs Human Kind war but the global warming and climate changes (ok maybe I exaggerate). The IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) 4th report from 2007 indicates amongst others that to avoid it the global average temperature increase, in a long-perspective, should stay 2 Celsius degrees below the pre-industrial times.

It’s really touching song…thank you Michael for it and for all music that is left after you and is immortal.

“What have we done to the world”…

Michael Jackson (29 August 1958 – 25 June 2009) Rest in Peace.

Dear Readers,

We are after two from three “climate commercials” that were published on different media sources by Polish Ministry of Environment during <a href="http://www.cop15copenhagen.com/2009/02/14/cop-14-poznan/ "target="_blank title="COP14 climate conference"> COP14 conference in Poznań in December 2008. We saw <a href="http://www.thegreenenergy.net/2009/06/06/enviornment-ministry-commercials/"target="_blank title="electricity saving advertisement">water saving advertisement and <a href="http://www.thegreenenergy.net/2009/06/28/energy-saving-commercial-ministry-environment-poland/"target="_blank title="electricity saving ad">electricity saving ad. Now it’s time for transport fuel saving that is probably the best from all the poor commercials we saw. However all published clips can’t be described as a brilliant productions but the obtained quite huge attention in Polish press and TV so it should be treated as success but I don’t think people are behaving in a more “energy-water-transport fuel saving” way. Below you can find the last commercial.

First commercial (water) was a sexual one, second (electricity) a horror clip, third one is a thriller/suspicion movie. The girl in the window is watching a man standing on the pavement. Suddenly the car with a lady as a driver comes and picks up they guy. We can assume that the woman in the window is his wife/girlfriend and the lady is a colleague from the work. Generally it’s an example of so-called car-pool so when you are using one car instead of two (or more) when you are going to the same direction (in this situation it’s probably work).

As usual a small translation of Polish content in the commercial: “Mariolka (Polish name) is jealous because Stefan (Polish name) is reducing <a href="http://www.cap-and-trade.eu/"target="_blank title="emission trading">greenhouse gases emissions commuting with a neighbour. And you? What did you do today for environment”. And of course last scene presents the <a href="http://www.cop15copenhagen.com/2009/02/14/cop-14-poznan/ "target="_blank" title="COP14 conference">COP14 conference logo and the statement: “Poland – climate for changes”.

I really support the idea of car-pool and other fuel-saving activities. However the car in the ad looks as an almost old-timer so I have doubts if it’s very ecological solutions.

Regards,
Anthony

Dear Readers,

After some time we are back with the second advertisement of Polish Ministry of Environment. The are three of them in total and the first was shown by us earlier this month. <a href="http://www.thegreenenergy.net/2009/06/06/enviornment-ministry-commercials/#more-22/ "target="_blank" title="water saving commercial"> The water saving commercials was the most controversial as it has undeniable sexual implied meaning. The second one regarding electricity saving is definitely a “softcore” ad. Please remind that all three commercial are official publication by the Ministry of Environment in Poland and were shown during <a href="http://www.cop15copenhagen.com/2009/02/14/cop-14-poznan/ "target="_blank" title="COP14 Poznań ">COP14 in Poznań.

And how you perceive it? Now we have more scary movie scene than in previous clip. Well…in my opinion it’s still very poor message and commercial as an overall “work”. However is more logical and reasonable that the water saving advertisement and having shower together with partner. Although we have still a minor sexual tone.

Less electricity consumption means lower energy bills and additional (small but within a bigger population it shouldn’t be underestimated) natural environmental saving.

Again I would like to present for non-Polish speaking Readers a small translation of the ad’s content.

“Stefan and Mariolka (funny combination of names in Poland) save electricity eating supper using candles. And you? What did you do today for environment”. Last scene shows the <a href="http://www.cop15copenhagen.com/2009/02/14/cop-14-poznan/ "target="_blank" title="COP14 conference">COP14 conference logo and the statement: “Poland – climate for changes”.

Please take a look for the <a href="http://www.thegreenenergy.net/2009/06/06/enviornment-ministry-commercials/#more-22/ "target="_blank" title="saving water commercial">first and <a href="http://www.thegreenenergy.net/2009/06/28/transport-fuel-saving-commercial-polish-ministry-environment/"target="_blank" title="transport fuel saving">last commercial of Polish Ministry of Environment.

Dear readers,

On 4th of June 2009 we published GE Energy’s TV advertisement concerning <a href="http://www.thegreenenergy.net/2009/06/04/commercial-wind-energy/ "target="_blank" title="wind energy commercial"> the wind energy. This time I would like to share with you with some ‘controversial’ commercials of Polish Ministry of Environment that were prepared last year within the country-wide campaign “change your habits, change climet for good” introduced parallel to <a href="http://www.cop15copenhagen.com/2009/02/14/cop-14-poznan/ target=_"blank" title="COP14 Poznań">the Conference of the Parties that took place in December in Poznań in Poland. Please take a notice that this campaign’s video were showed on the official <a href="http://www.cop14.gov.pl/index.php?lang=EN/ "target=”_blank” title="COP14 government website">COP14 website. However it’s worth mentioning that this commercials (main aim was to improve the awareness among the society related to energy savings, water savings and transport fuel savings – changing habits) were published only in Internet, on society portals. Even special ‘MySpace’ profil was made. Probably you want to see them? They are in the further part of the article. Remember Polish Ministry stands behind this…

<!--
google_ad_client = "pub-0324707005110926";

What are your opinions? Is it really a good way to save water…having shower together. Maybe it will be wised also to invite neighbours, just kiding. I was a little bit shocked that Ministry approved such spots with sexual background. I can imagine that the goal was reached in some way, because I’m writing about this and It was also mentioned in TV news, newspaper etc. However the quality of this commercials bags for mercy. They are so simple and they are sending so unsophisticated message that it even hurts me.

Some translation of the narrator part: “Stefan and Mariolka (Polish names – also perceived as funny combination in Poland) save water having shower together. And you? What did you do today for environment”.

On the last part we have <a href="http://www.cop15copenhagen.com/2009/02/14/cop-14-poznan/ "target="_blank" title="the COP14 Poznań">the COP14 logo and the statement: “Poland – climate for changes”.

You want to see more of the commercials? Please look at the second and third commercial on our website (available soon).

Are you annoyed by the commercials interrupting in film watching? Commercials before weather broadcast, sport news? I have sad news…nothing can be done with it. However have you been wondering what kind of products/services are difficult to advertise? What do you think about energy? Maybe it’s not a very difficult theme to promote, but I think it’s tough to invent such advertisement, especially in an original way. I prepared two examples for you: one advertisement <a href=http://www.zarzadzanie-energia.eu/2009/06/03/czy-energie-mozna-reklamowac-ciekawostka-na-poczatek/ "target=”_blank” title="more green commercials">can be watched on our other website and second is placed below, but please watch the films without reading the whole text.

And how do you perceive it? I think it’s great. Showing the potential of wind energy and additionaly it’s touching. It presents also a way to promote the wind energy without showing wind mills for 90% of the clip.

It’s an ad of a big company GE, so even giants want to, amongst others, improve the ecological awareness of society. I wish you more of such nice commercials. If you have some interesting links place them in your posts/comments.

I think this video proves one more time that green energy is better than grey energy…

Regards,
